For decades, the American Friends Service Committee Prison Watch Program has been monitoring and reporting on human rights abuses against incarcerated people, largely through written correspondence with prisoners and their families. As members of NJ-CAIC, and under the leadership of program director Bonnie Kerness, they began compiling testimonies in 2016 and publishing them for public dissemination under the title "From the Inside Out." Each issue features recent testimonies from people incarcerated in various NJ correctional facilities; and each are intended to educate all stakeholders on the realities of isolation in New Jersey.
